Benjamin “Ben” Barger is a world-class sailor, management professional, 2008 US Olympian and medal hopeful for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. He was the unofficial alternate in the 2004 & 2012 Olympics and just out of the medals as a member of the 2007 Pan American Team. Ben is a seven-time national champion in the Olympic windsurfing discipline and placed on the podium at various world cup events worldwide. The international media, including CNN, FoxNews, Eurosport, NBC Nightly News, and NPR has spotlighted Ben as an athlete to watch in the Olympics. He was the undefeated American in the United States from 2003 to 2011 and is preparing for his next push for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Ben has built and managed his Olympic Dream Team since he started selling T-shirts at the age of 16 out of the trunk of his car, hiring top caliber coaches and sports professionals since to be the best American in the discipline for over a decade.  He’s raised nearly a million dollars from fundraising/sponsorship and continues to compete when time permits.

Using his sailing skills, Ben has worked in business the majority of his life to help fund his Olympic dream, working in the management of operations, sales and technical areas. Ben is an international success story for his global lead of athletes rights in the Olympic movement. He is past chairman of the ISAF Athletes Commission representing athlete’s views to the board of directors and the executive of the World Sailing Federation. He successfully championed the athletes first ever position within the Board of Directors and has created policy and objectives to best align the growth of athletes within the Olympic movement worldwide, effecting hundreds of thousands of lives around the world.

The journey to the Olympics is a community effort for Ben, he has spent a large portion of time giving back to the community that helped him fulfill his dreams.  He speaks at a variety of charities and events to promote health, nutrition and “Olympism”.
